Windows 10 update broken squeezelite?

My desktop PC is set up with Squeezelite but after the recent (large) Windows 10 autumn update, it does not play any sound. I have investigated and found out that the squeezelite service is running fine and the LMS web interface shows the instance of Squeezelite and seems to be playing normally. But no sound comes out. I have tried various sources - radio, local file- nothing. Various reboots, restarting squeezelite - no progress.

All the other endpoints in the house (RPi/PiCorePlayer) all work fine and the PC plays sound fine from other applications as one would expect.

The only anomaly I can see is that Volume Mixer does not show an unidentified Playback Application as I think it used to.

Has anyone else had this issue with the Win 10 upgrade? It might be co-incidental but its got me flummoxed at the moment. Grateful for any advice to get it going again.

Napster/Rhapsody non functional

I was recently charged a subscription fee, yet I was unaware that I still had a Napster account. I am fine with finding this but Napster does not function on my Squeezeboxes. I can pull up a record selection and the playback appears to be playing (ie the count begins) but when the counts approaches about 20 seconds it reverts back to zero and begins again. All this and absolutely no sound from the SBs. Can anyone assist me on this. I do not want to be charged for something that doesn’t work.

UPDATE: I found that my problem with Napster is that it does not function with SB Booms. When my system is un-synced with my Boom it’s ok!
Is there a way to have Napster work with Booms?

PS: I LOVE my SB ecosystem! After all these years I STILL love it!

I was wondering if any UWP developers out there are considering publishing a UWP version of softqueeze / squeezeplayer or similar?

I`d certainly buy a copy should it be published, I`m sure plenty others here would also...background audio would be really nice.

Cron & Picoreplayer

hello,
I have a Raspberrypi with picoreplayer installed. All works fine.
However I would like to launch a script at a certain time and another script at another time ( Power on the amplifier at 7:00 in the morning and power off at 8:00).
Is it possible to have several script via the Shedule CRON jobs? the first command is writed successfully and works but when I write a second one, it overwrite the first one.

Qobuz Hi Res streaming how to downsample

Hi all.

I have a sublime plus subscription to Qobuz, but some of the Hi res files are 24/192 which my Transporter won't handle.

Is there a way to set the LMS to downsample the 24/192 files to 24/96?

KidsPlay - Jump into directory and display content

I would like to shortcut one of my buttons on the Squeezebox Radio.
The idea would be that my kids can jump directly to their audiobooks.

My hierarchy is "Hauptmenü > Musikordner > Kids > Hörspiele"

I am pretty new to the CLI commands and I need help.

picoreplayer raspberry pi 3 bluetooth?

Can Picoreplayer route output to Bluetooth on a raspberry pi 3?

I am currently using the audio out jack with a Bluetooth transmitter but the pairing is awkward and the dangling wires and transmitter make my family members use of them problematic.

I understand that the RpI3 Needs an external Wi-Fi OR an external Bluetooth adapter to work properly. Any suggestions as to which type of adapter to use and which make/model or chipset is best?

DSP (room correction) with LMS and an SBC

I run an Allo Sparky + USBridge running Squeezelite (via DietPi) connected to a Chord Mojo DAC. This just replaced a Linn Klimax DS/1 streamer as it clearly sounds better, so I just saved £2k by selling the Linn!

I’ve used LMS and previous for 10 years or so and currently run 7.9.1 on a Synology 216Play. It’s all good and I love it, but I miss the ability to tweak the bass to iron out a couple of room modes. Can anyone help me with a way of reinstating this with my setup. This could be using LMS, but perhaps using the Allo Sparky? BruteFIR is not available on the Sparky DietPi distribution. Wonder if anyone knows why? A relatively simple install would be nice as my Linux knowledge is poor.

Filters in MusicIP

I have a filter set up which covers all the genres I want MusicIP to use when generating mixes. If I choose a seed track from one of the genres listed in the filter then the mix contains tracks from the required genres. I would expect that generating mixes from tracks with genres not specified in the filter would not be allowed but it is and a mix generated from one of these genres produces a mix of songs from only the genres outside the filter.
I don't really understand how filters work in MusicIP but I wasn't expecting that. Does anyone have any further insight into why this is happening?

Now you can browse Bandcamp URLs directly. Just enter them in the corresponding menu (easiest in the web UI, obviously ;-)) to get access to bands or albums. Eg. fill in https://hrmnn.bandcamp.com/album/hermann and you'd directly browse the album Hermann by Hermann :-).

MusicIP times out when using filters

I have a filter set up with 10 genres and the MusicIP plugin times out after 5 seconds when trying to generate a mix using this filter. If I use a filter with 1 genre this works correctly. In the log below I generate a mix using a filter called test which has one genre and you can see that works but when I use a filter called Filter 1 with 10 genres the time out is triggered.
All I want to do is eliminate a few genres from mixes but the only way to do this (apart from leaving these genres unanalysed which causes scanning issues where the plugin tries to import them during every "new and changed" scan) seems to be to add all the remaining genres to a filter.

Some albums play and some don't....

Grateful for some advice here... over the last week or so I have been unable to play some albums on some of my 'endpoints' (mostly PiCorePlayer and squeezelite on PCs) but they do play on some of the other endpoints. And the endpoints that don't play some albums do play other albums. The web-interface for LMS looks as if they are playing even when no sound comes out. The albums that don't work are standard aac or flc 44.1kHz/16bit. The BBC iPlayer and Spotty plugins work perfectly.

So its all a bit random. The only thing that does seem consistent is that whole albums are affected and, if they are, it's consistent for a given endpoint. i.e. it doesn't change track by track and if an album does or doesn't play it will behave the same on that endpoint again.

I'm not expecting an accurate diagnosis considering the symptoms are so vague but I would be grateful for some advice on what logging events I should set up to narrow down what might be the problem.

I'm running LMS 7.9.1 on a Vortexbox 2.4 OS.

Anyone running MUSICIP on QNAP 4.2/4.3 64bit?

I tried asking on QNAP forum and got no takers (aside from suggestion I run all on a RPi), so trying here. I'm still running LMS on QTS 4.3, and all is well except MUSICIP. Still using modified SSOTS and fix for the BASH issue. We have 2 xQNAPs, and I prefer to leave it all there as I don't want the hassle of starting from zero to fix one issue. I have a hunch that Musicip might not be enabled for 64bit, and since QTS will >only< run 64bit, I suspect this is why it will not work. I get an error indicating the executable cannot be found, but it is there..

Running MusicMagicServer /opt/ssods4/var/home/MusicIP/mmserver: line 25: /opt/ssods4/bin/start-stop-daemon: No such file or directory
The start-stop daemon is trying to start MMS. I checked authorisations etc., but it seems ok.

As a workaround, since I anyway run a windows VM on the QNAP, I run the windows version of Musicip, and then use Sugarcube Dynamic Path Conversion on QNAP LMS to look at MUSICIP on the 'remote' (VM) windows server so I can use Sugarcube to make the mix. It works for sugarcube (not MUSICIP) but it's all a bit clunky.

So the simple question...
is anyone successfully running MusicIP on QNAP QTS 4.3 or 4.3?
If yes, I can go spend a bit of time to understand what is wrong with my version, but if not then I suspect I'll have to stay where I am, and offer up the above solution as a solution if others are in the same hole.
The non-SSOTS QPKG might have the same issue, and I am not sure of the new container builds (if QTS containers will only run pure 64bit)

ANNOUNCE: Player Groups (alpha version)

This is a new plugin that I've been wanting to do a for a long while. Note that this thread is the alpha version, so if you are not comfortable with using unstable software, please wait for a stable version. I'm releasing this to get feedback with logs and help, not to hear "it does not work :)

So ... what is this about. I like very much LMS but the way groups are working does not fit my need. I have many different players, sometimes a couple in the same room, and more than one floor. Often, I want to play in "master bedroom" or in "first floor" or in "Family room" or in "full house". Everytime I want to change that, I need to build a group. "The Synchronizer" helps a lot, but that's still a manual process.

So this plugin creates new "virtual" players that are the combination of any real player. When a virtual player starts, the group is dynamically assembled and its disassembled when the track stops, all on the fly. That's about it, but a few things are to be known:

- By default, power on/off to a virtual player powers on/off all members
- Volume changes on the virtual player are applied to each member based on the change ratio. You can change the volume of individual members to adjust "base" relative volume
- If a player belongs to multiple virtual players, the player is allocated to the virtual that started the most recent play. Remaining players belonging to the other virtual group will continue unchanged
- When a virtual player stops, all members that were belonging to a "static" group are re-allocated to that group, but they will *not* play what's being played on remaining members of that static groups till next song starts
- If a member of a virtual player is stopped, unfortunately the virtual player stops as well (need a LMS change to avoid that)
- DO NOT SYNCHRONIZE A VIRTUAL PLAYER WITH ANOTHER PLAYER

Again, it's alpha, so there is a lot of issues and corner cases untested. I'm releasing this for receive help for test and isolate such corner cases, so please send me such feedback with as many details as possible about what happen and how it happened. It's not a lot of code, but it's playing with some deep core elements of LMS that I'm not very familiar with, so be patient

Deezer app: can't see Deezer playlists on Squeezebox Touch (or via iPeng)

I am using our Deezer family membership (so basically same as the Premium+, I am using one of the secondary accounts) - if I set up favourite artists, albums and create a couple of playlists, using the Deezer app on my iPad, or on the PC, I can see my favourite artists and the albums on my squeezebox touch (and via iPeng) but whatever I do I can't seem to get the playlists to appear on the squeezebox. Everything is registered properly with myqueezebox.com and so on.

Any ideas?

Alexa & LMS with Ha-Bridge

I just wanted to report I was able to get Alexa to work with LMS and Spotty. I use Ha-bridge on my synology NAS along with LMS. Ha-bridge accepts http commands and acts as a phillips hue emulator. You have on, off and dim functions which you can program to whatever you want. For example for proof of concept I named my command Spotify in the Kitchen and say "Alexa, Turn on Spotify in the Kitchen". My http command is for my playlist I listen to most and she turns it on perfectly. Thanks to Michael for help with the url. Here is the example of what I used in Ha-bridge

"http://youripaddressandport/anyurl?player=MACaddressofplayer&p0=playlist&p1=pl ay&p2=spotify:user:yourspotifyusername: playlist:yourplaylistid"

fill in your ip address and port, mac id for your player, spotify username and playlist ID. You get the ID from the spotify computer app under share and then copy spotify url

You can basically create a device for anything you can do with http on LMS. I asked Michael in the other thread I started if synchronize was an option. This process can be tedious as you have to setup each command per player but it works well.

CustomBrowse & Multilibrary: Some Libraries are not working

I played around with CustomBrowse and Multilibrary these last days and encountered a problem. I created three libraries:

  1. Classical, that includes the genre "Classical" only.
  2. Rock, that excludes the genres "Audiobooks" and "Classical".
  3. Audiobooks, that includes the genre "Audiobooks" only.


With CustomBrowse I created some basic menus. It worked fine. I did a rescan. Now, only the Classical menu works. The other two menus have their submenus, but these are empty (Rock / Artists or Rock / Albums for example) now.

So I create another CustomBrowse entry for Rock and this one works now. I compared the two respective xml files:

Why did two of the three libraries get a new internal ID? How do I restore the old one?

ANNOUNCE: iHeartRadio to play US live iHeart radio stations

This plugin enables listening to many iHeart live US stations. This is a LMS plugin which means a local LMS is required - it does not work with mysqueezebox.com connected devices.
To install - add the respositry URL below to the LMS WebUI/Settings/Plugins "Additional Respositories" at the bottom of the page.

The plugin provides two menus
* a keyword search - seems to match a word in station name, callsign or description.
* browse by genre

Each iHeart station may have a number of "playable" URLs but not all LMS version and players can play all types of URL.

A station on a menu is a playlist of the station's URLs ordered by probably most playable first.

Once playing a user can save as a Favorite.

The URLs are ordered as follows: Shoutcast, Secure Shoutcast, HLS, secure HLS, PLS, STW and secure STW

Shoutcast URls are "normal" http streams with audio in MP3 or AAC.
Secure Shoutcast URls are https streams with audio MP3 or AAC - these require a version of LMS that supports "https" to proxy the streram.
HLS and Secure HLS streams are Apple HLS (i.e.m3u8) they will require PlayHLS plugin (and ffmpge/avconv) to be installed to be playable.
PLS stream are streams which are pls playlist format - the actual stream may be in the format of any of the above 4 streams.
STW and secure STW - these are streamtheworld URLs which may or may not work as they are old.

iHeart API may also provides rtmp and flv Flast stream but these are not playable on LMS.

A user can drill down the Station instead of playing and copy an URL into a Favorite. Only Shoutcast URLs found by this plugin will be playable on a device connected to mysqueezebox.com assuming the shoutcast URL has been copied as a mysqeueezebox favorite.

broadccasting to LMS from my macbook

Hi Squeezebox experts,

few years back I had a similar question I never figured out how to play music from an ipod over LMS.

Now my setup has changed and my requirement as well.

I am running LMS from my Synology NAS playing a bunch of duet receivers in 3 groups.

On my Macbook Air I am running DJ Software Traktor Pro and use a hardware controller with external sound card, so my PA and monitor speakers connect to the Controller by default. (I could as well use the built in sound card of the mac instead which is I guess the only way it would potentially work.)

I would love to play my mixes over the LMS to have them all over the place. But I have no idea how to achieve all this.

I would need to grab the audio from my mac sound card, route it over the network to the NAS and have the LMS broadcast the stream. I learned that SONOS does have features like that but I did not find anything so far for LMS, e.g. I think the waveinput plugin does not help in this case :-( and as I am doing live mixes, latency is another important topic.

any idea out there how to fix this?
